End of an era on my farm

WOW! Stud! That's too bad. Hopefully he has lots of offspring running around your place.

Holy smokes...what a beautiful deer he was. That's a shame but at least you have his rack. Like wiscwhip said - I'm betting those genes are still out there and you will be seeing more just like him.

Any theories on his death?

Ouch.

Beautiful animal.

Oh man. Look out for sons and grandsons. I bet you see one that is impressive like that one someday.

That sucks. What did he score?

Wow! Sorry to hear that. What a deer.

Great buck, I'm sure he passed his genes along, too bad.

What a bull !! Glad you found his rack. Like the others said - his genes are walking around your area. Keep a watch for similar racks.

Sorry to hear that but at least you know why you'll never see him on camera again.

Definitely bittersweet. Any details on how he died? Nice the mice and squirrels didn't chew up his rack. We found our #1 in march dead. 20inch 10pt 5 1/2 yr old. Sucks but his rack and cam pics are on the wall of our cabin. Crazy how the Giants are typically found after the season.

He was said to be hit in the leg during gun season (300yd running shot). There were pictures of him early December so I'm going to assume he got infection and was too wore down to recover.

There are other's in the gene pool I'm watching....

I rough taped him in the back of the neighbor's truck (I didn't find him) at 197" gross with 2" busted off since I last saw him, 187 net.

Shawn-- that is so dang depressing. Shoot, wish someone could have got him. Running shot, ouch.

Just have to grow another one. :)

Wow that is one stud buck! Glad you have some closure to him and won't be hunting a buck that isn't around.
