Electric fence musts

I'm sick of my plots leveled before the prime hunting season, and I'm going to electric fence at least one of my plots. The unit will need to be solar. I'm open on any suggestions or experiences.

Is there anyway I can insulate wire for approximately 500 feet through the woods, so I can run 2 separate food plots off one power unit?

I'll need approx. 1.4 miles of wire, which includes 3 wires on each plot and one wire connecting the 2, if that's possible
Here is the layout

Could you run a coated wire through the woods...not sure on what gauge would work

Some 14-2 UF wire will work right on the ground to get you where you need to go. And the UF holds up well for years!

I couldn't just wrap some wire in electrical tape? Hahaha

19 days, from 2' high-down to the bulbs. I would have nothing if I didn't have the fence. It's not bullet proof, but it helps. The added rye is also saving me. I don't think I'm gonna make it to march with this plot.

No before pic?

I knew I forgot something

To grow trees I have double electric fence. Two three strand fences 3 feet apart. First fence is about 4 foot high. The second is about 6 ft high.

They never get into it.

That doe on the far left might be older than I am. Wow she is a old one.

Jake and I call them "Smart One" because they educate every deer on our property.

"Smart One" is on the top of the list for harvest this gun season. We have more than one. They need to go.

Funny u mention that John, she was the oldest of that 4. I was only putting her at about 4 years old, but she might be older. Last year I shot a 10 year old doe the last second of the last day of the late doe season. It was my oldest deer ever and my only trophy last year.
Lots of olds sows out there that are past being able to reproduce....

So Dipper what did you end up doing for wire in the woods ? What charger did you end up getting ? Did you take the whole set up down or just turn it off and drop the wires down. I'm about 2 years away from doing this project.

Lowered the wire to the ground
I bought the 30 mile solar unit from fleet farm
It's not 100%, but it really helps

By not being 100% do you mean it shorts out often ? So what percent of the deer get in?

I don't know what % of deer get in, but I do know there was browse on some residual clover that didn't die. There was a little browse on the brassicas but no where near the amount of browse on the same type of plot 100 yards away.
No question the fence saved the plot and benefited my hunting right now and hopefully the next couple weeks. 9 deer chomping every night will put a hurting on an acre plot.
I just can't believe u other guys don't have the browse pressure I do?

I added a large plot this year and it has taken the pressure off my other plots. I think the deer numbers are up by camera observations and less stress on the plots due to a huge acorn crop.

2nd doe in 2 days. This sow was a real good one. Fairly confident she is 7 year old....might be the oldest deer on the property.
