Easter Egg hunting season

Howboutthemdawgs

5 year old buck +
I really enjoy looking for sheds. Wish I had more time to do it. Got out for 2 hours today. Tough conditions but didn’t get skunked.
5th EHD buck this year

Didn’t get skunked you say as you casually hold a GIANT shed… 😂😂😂
lol well ironically he’s pretty much the only deer worth a darn I had post rifle season and he broke his other side in October. I’ve had him on camera for the last two years but never laid eyes on him. I knew he was nice but his mass was way better than I expected. IMG_8827.jpeg

Well, if I were you I would certainly be excited for next fall. Man, what a buck! The big question becomes how to get eyes on him. Good stuff!

Man.... I've found ONE shed antler in my life! And it was so critter chewed you can barely till what it was. With the low deer numbers that's not exactly surprising.
I've found a whole bunch of skulls over the years unfortunately, some with antlers.

I would be super excited about that dear for next year. Kickers and heavy mass are great signs. I bet you wish you found the right side first.

I wonder what buck broke him off? In my somewhat limited experience, the bucks who break a bunch of points or a whole side early will tend to always do that. I'd do what I could to get him early. Beans in a fenced in plot that opens up a week before the season opens type of scenario.

I've only found sheds in places I can't hunt 😂

It’s odd…that deer is always an afterthought. He’s a damn ghost. Granted I don’t run a lot of cameras but I don’t get him regularly on the ones I do and I’ve never seen him in 2 years in my big field by house. But ironically I found the shed 50 yards off the field. The part of the world where I normally pick him up will have a secluded 12 acre bean field I’ll let the farmer plant and then I have a big creek and another 20 acres of beans this year (both were corn this past year). So all that said maybe he’ll be in the world earlier. I’ll do some old school glassing in August and see if I can’t pick him up then and make a plan.

As far as what broke him…an oak tree is about the only thing I’ve seen capable of snapping that mass!

I LOVE shed hunting....wNY has had a brutal old school winter and this shed season will have as much to do with miles for piles as the political agenda of Making Jeans Fit Again when the 4ft of snow subsides

I'm going out today to find where the deer are hanging out before the snow melts. After the snow melts I'll try to find some sheds. I put a camera back out, but I'm not getting many deer on it. It will be interesting to find out where they hole up when the weather turns nasty.
