Earliest you've collected good scion.

Going hunting to spot I dont get to too often. Was looking to get some scion from a big dog and blue pearmain tree there. Will hydrate, sterilize, and seal them up If I collect some. Going to be pruning while I am there anyways.

I did some scion from mid january last year and it did ok. Thinking these guys will be good too. Sealed in a bag in the fridge. I recall freezer wasn't a good idea.

It will probably be fine if it stays hydrated and kept close to freezing consistently.

Hydrated, but not TOO hydrated. I've lost scions every possible way. This year I'm trying peat moss to regulate humidity and pH in my seed bags and scion bags.

Earliest I will take scions will be first week of January, and that is out of necessity.

Some of those in the western prairie provinces collect scion in the fall and bury them in buckets with a lid and in the ground. They have good luck.
