My local Walmart had a bunch of Dunstan chestnut trees marked down on clearance yesterday some for $10 some for $15

Tractor Supply has Degroot trees for $9, but I'm skeptical about bare-root trees this long into the season.

Bought only one potted one 2 years ago. Freedom, 15-20ft tall, looks like m111. Has about 15 young apples on it. Plucked most of the flowers off. PRobably my largest tree I planted so far.

Bust that rootball open. mine was a nasty mess. Put it in around mid june or so. Did good the first year too.

Ordered bareroots on clearance from stark nurseries and planted June time too. Macoun, Arkansas Black, franklin cider, and a saturn peach. Glad I did probably wouldn't of bought an Arkansas otherwise.

Not sure IF I would do it If you cant water atleast weekly until the bulk of summer heat winds down.

I got some of those cheap walmart dunstans, watered at home in pots over the summer, and then fall planted two years ago. They are still alive, but haven’t done much. A few bareroot chinese have done a bit better, but neither have done great in my heavy clay.

Bought a couple more of these yesterday and my middle boy and I got all 6 of them in the ground yesterday evening two clumps of 3 trees on different farms hope they make it.
