Two times in 28 years is not very much statistical data. I've grown them for 15 years. And EVERY year the deer have eaten them. Nibble on the leaves and small bulbs all summer and once a frost hit them hard.I have grown sugar beets twice during the last 28 years. They get little use by deer, just like turnips, rutabagas, and radishes. Radishes get just a bit of use.
Three miles away, they love turnips.
People in our area buy beets from farmers for winter feed.
