Broadcasted Beans

Bonez

Yearling... With promise
I know this has been talked about a number of times. I recently lightly ran my disc through a 3 acre field and then sprayed gly/liberty for a burn down. Waited 2 weeks, came back and saw I missed a few spots with my sprayer, no biggy. I ran my disc again lightly throughout the 3 acres and then broadcasted 4 acres worth of e3 soybeans. I don’t have access to a drag or Cultipacker so I spent the next few hours running the side x side and then my truck over the area. There’s plenty of seed to soil contact and some seed didn’t make it into the disc areas so the seed was just pushed down by the wheels. The planting was done on 5/16, 1.2” of rain came through 2 days later. I placed a cam in the plot to try and “monitor” the hopeful growth progress. This planting was done in central IL, how long do you think till you would start to see some sprouting?

3-4 days if it's warm out.

I checked my notes. I planted E3 beans on 5/19/23 and really the only difference is I drug a cattle panel over them. Many were exposed on top and I recorded emergence on 5/27/23.

I broadcast mine roughly the same time as you and most have emerged (some of the ones that were planted deeper are still working thier way up). I'm not sure how well they'd show up on camera pics at this stage.

I agree. On my drive to work I drive by several fields that have had beans popped for a few days at least and you have to look down the end rows to tell.
