Cuddelink L series Q & A

In order to post pics on this site....I now need to e-mail them to myself with a jpeg tag...then I can download them .....and finally can post them here. Lotsa work. I will experiment via the methods above. Thanks!

Try putting two browser tabs side by side. Set one to Camp and one to HT. You may be able to click and drag the pics from Camp into th HT text editor.

My K series home camera died after 10 years, and I replaced it with a L series. After setting up the new home camera and making a few calls to customer service I can send a test. After putting the camera out, I received one batch of pictures and then nothing. I went back to the farm Saturday and checked and did another test. I got error codes 234, 201, and 209. I had 3 bars LTE on my phone, and this is the same place my K series home camera was located. I brought the camera home, and it now sends the test pic but still not sending batch pics. Do the L series home cameras not have the same coverage as the K series does. How do I swap the carrier to AT&T to see if that works?

Are they all running the same firmware version? Get a report after you put the new home in the network?

I updated the F/W on the L series and G series. I still haven’t received a daily report.

I'd suspect a memory card issue, but call Cuddeback to confirm.

check your spam mail for the reports if you're using gmail to see the pics. On the cuddeback app, there's some more report info, are you getting those? don't know about those codes, need cuddeback support for that, but, Grizzz is right, memory cards seem to be cuddebacks kyptonite.

What is my issue and how do I fix it? I Could see my photos on the Cuddeback app until this morning. You can see that it says there are pictures but found is “zero” . I turned on all the tabs on in the filters section that seem relevant, but still can’t view any. I can see them just fine on my laptop if I log into camp.

Looks like you clicked the fav filter and possibly more.

go to camp- then device details then edit , and you will then see the option to choose att or verizon, L series have both Sim cards and better coverage than the G

I haven't switched to my L home yet. Can I toggle this back and forth to determine which might get a better signal? Or do I just have to pick one and hope?

you would need to arm it and have an active plan to determine which is best using the L home, if you want to move your current plan to the new L home unit you would need to call CS at cuddeback

I guess I'm ready to jump in with this system and looking for some guidance.
I have two locations: "home" and my "hunting property". They are about 5 miles apart. I have no interest in a cell plan for either. I'd like to have 3 cameras at each property. I would like to be able to swap a card at either 1 camera or a home unit at each location. Do I need a home unit at each location or will one of the cameras collect from the other cameras? Is the home unit just for sending to the cell or will it also collect on a card?
I planned on the black flash cameras. Do I need the phone app for setting up? Suggestions?
Thanks!

I'm a fan of the Cuddelink system, but I'm not sure I'd jump into this system if you have no desire for a cell plan. There are a few reasons, but here are two.

1. The cameras transmit a picture to the home unit, but they are a lower resolution picture than what you are probably used to from a standard, noncell trail camera. Maybe the new firmware overcomes this, but it definitely slows the network down, because the cameras are low bandwidth for transmission. If you can get the high resolution pictures, you may have to settle for a long interval between pictures.

2. The settings for the cameras are stored on the memory card. Hot swapping a card from the home camera on each network will likely cause you an issue, unless you're doing something to ensure the cards you're swapping come from the same camera, and keep the settings data on the card. I know this because I occasionally run into memory card issues (happens on all brand cameras) and have to swap in a new card. Even when the camera keeps power, when I swap in a new card, I need to reconfigure the camera. This is a problem for some of the non-tech savy guys in our camp. The menus take a little getting used to.

I'm sure @john volkman can confirm my statements.

Oh, that doesn't sound like what I'm looking for.

you can run it the way you want but you will need a camera set as a "home" on each property- any camera can be set as a home unit when running them without cell service - you wont be able to access some features or make remote adjustments to the cameras without cell service but you may not need to , if you want to utilize any of the functions you can always buy a cell plan for one month, make the changes /settings and then turn it off after the settings are in place. Many people use it the way you are looking to - the properties would need to be closer than 5 miles to link them all together, you could move cameras back and forth form each property though and they will link up when doing so. You can set most settings on the camera without a cell plan. enabling a camera to send in hi rez is one function that needs a cell home to do so. the other options is you can run it non cell all year and then turn the cell function on for a month or tow in hunting season. To do that you will need a cell home unit though which doesnt have a camera in it. IF you know you dont want to do that, just buy cuddelink L series cameras and dont bother buying a cell home unit.

Thanks John. So, can I pull cards from the "home" camera, or does that mess up the settings?
I assumed 5 miles was too far to link.

you can pull the cards, just use the same card in the home camera or at least clear them after you view the pics on them- dont swap cards from home to home unless you clear them

Clear or reformat?
