John you might have to explain in detail how the zoom ir works. I can't find anything on it. Not even on youtube. Do you just set it on fixed 3x zoom? I have a place in mind for a 3x. Camera further away on a community scrap scent tree.

its a fixed 3x zoom lens - there isnt any adjustment , what you would want to do is keep it at least 20 feet from your target area and turn your motions sense setting to high 2 or 3 if you want it to trigger at long range - i would still keep it within 30-40 feet of the target area for best image quality if you are looking for max detail on antlers etc.

I plan to pull some of my older units and check them for wear and tear and give everything a good cleaning as part of the process. I will remove batteries, antennas and memory cards for sure. I was going to put a silica pack in the tote with them for moisture. Anything else I can do to ensure safe storage and hopefully a seamless return next fall?

biggest mistake people make is pulling them from very cold temps (0 degrees to 70 degrees) into a warm house, electronics dont like water as we all know, and doing that can cause condensation on the inside, like pulling a gun inside etc . if you pull them, leave them in your garage and let them warm up slowly,

you timed it right, all prices on the cuddelink cameras just were reduced ,making it even more affordable to build a system- if i was building a new system it would be a mix of the zoom IR and white flash strobe, i would also recommend you run each camera with a solar panel as it will allow you to not visit them until you want to. the strobe for places i want clear color night images and the zoom where i want to place it for stealth and in food plots since it has a fixed 3x zoom .

it would work fine on trails as long as its not right on top of it , the worst that could happen is the deer is to close to the camera and you cant see the entire deer on the image. The only thing different between it and the standard IR LL-2a model, is the 3X fixed lens

John, with the drops in prices I just picked up a new unit along with a couple sun and shade panels. I was EXTREMELY happy to see they included the metal wrapped power cord in the new panels. Such a simple, but meaningful upgrade. That was the right choice!

yes it was needed and they will all be that way now - although there may be some inventory of the smaller panels out there with old cables in them yet.
