Cuddeback's Cuddelink

How do you have your K camera cell batch setup? You might need to change the rate of how often it sends pics or else it will get back logged.
K Camera is the only one I didn’t set up. I’m not sure how my friend programmed tha one. What do you recommend for the seThings for the home cell camera?

Yes I know the order. I had to rearrange after they were running so it only makes sense to me. The weak camera (NE Field) goes through repeater 2 and then repeater 3 and then home camera (Middle Field).
NE is still low, irregardless of repeater. It could be struggling to connect to repeater. Just like a slow car on highway.

Agree. I’ll move the repeater 100 yards closer and see if that helps. That’s the only camera on that side of the home camera. All others feed in from the other side so I assume that shouldn’t slow the others down, although I could be wrong.

Anyone know what settings I should use on the home cellular camera as to how often it should be sending pics out?

John recommends batch 30 as the most efficient. I have all mine setup at 1 hour but I don't get many pics. Even at the 1 hour setting sometimes my home cell will get back logged if the deer are hanging out at a scrape or eating acorns. But that only lasts for a few hours then it will catch back up. I had my settings at batch 1 last year and it got back logged for days. It's definitely trial and error for your property and deer density to find the best setting.

The current solar panel does not work with the dual , we have one coming in 2020 that is designed for it. They had to make a change to it to ensure it’s used correctly , I touched on this in a couple earlier posts . As it is now you can only use regular alkalines in the dual power bank until the new panel is available
Oh I don’t know about that.....and I do realize if something goes tits up I’ve voided my warranty. Patience is not one of my stronger traits.

All I did is take move my home camera to the middle, put it as high as I could reach from 4-wheeler (camera still on to send me a once per day time-lapse pic), and it has made a world of difference. I have CC Rate set at 10. I was getting so many pics that it tied it up so that it didn't take many pictures. If you get a lot of picture transmitting from other cameras, I would not have my home camera in a good spot, as the camera will not take picture while it is transmitting pictures.

Although I moved my home camera further from my weakest camera that was on the fringe, it pulled it from mostly non-existent signal to a consistent 14 and been transmitting ever since. I have a repeater on the way that I hope will help. The time difference from when pic was taken and when I receive it in email has improved greatly.

You would think that the weakest cameras would just get bumped out by higher strength signal, but I do not believe that is how it works. I think that once weak signal is connected , the others have to wait their turn. I have noticed that the camera's do not just sit there and try to transmit non-stop. It appears to me that there is some form of programing that manages this rotation to some extent.

Read my earlier post on using Google Earth. You will be surprised at the hills in between cameras. Sometimes it doesn't take but about 10' to make all the difference.

VERY IMPRESSIVE- This camera was set out in June. Finally hit internals. On the last picture before it switched to internals, it showed 6.589v (1.09v/cell). The BI=28869. Battery used - Rayovac Fusion ~$1.50ea.

Another camera pretty close to where it switch to internals.

My advise would be to try and eliminate all of the links. Get your home more centrally located or in a more advantageous location.

I am having an issue with my home unit and Gmail. The home unit is a K-23. I thought the unit itself was having a problem by not sending reports. I trouble shoot it by adding my cell phone as a relay address. I am getting consistent reports to my cell that are not coming to gmail (I checked spam filters, trash bin, etc.). CC rate is set to 2 hours. I have a new gmail address that I established for the sole purpose of receiving pictures from my Cuddeback rigs.

In the past day or so I've received the following picture messages at gmail:
10/12/2019: 2:00 AM
10/12/2019: 4:24 AM (camera status report)
10/12/2019: 8:00 AM

10/12/2019: 6:00 PM
10/13/2019: 4:53 AM (camera status report)
10/13/2019: 4:53 AM

Here's what I have received via text messages (any reports that didn't come to gmail are in red):
10/12/2019: 2:00 AM
10/12/2019: 4:24 AM (camera status report)

10/12/2019: 8:09 PM
10/12/2019: 10:02 PM

10/13/2019: 2:00 AM
10/13/2019: 4:53 AM (camera status report)
10/13/2019: 4:53 AM

Any idea what would cause the discrepancy? I suspect there were other reports I was missing before I added my cell phone to the relay addresses but can't confirm that.

Lots of times I can text but email won’t send. It seems it works with less signal. I believe email goes through the internet and text just goes through your carrier. I didn’t think about that when setting up my account. I just added it to check it out.

Rather than sending email and text differently, I think the cell units actually send the pictures to a Cuddelink server somewhere which then gets forward to the 10 relay addresses that are setup on CAMP (my guess on how this works). When setting up relay cell phone on CAMP you input an email address rather than just the cell number (xxxxxxx@vzwpix.com, for example).

At any rate, my unit is setup in an area where I have consistent, strong LTE coverage so cell reception shouldn't be an issue.

Does anyone know the latest firmware for J3’s? Is it the same as the Gs

My report says Gs running 7.3 and my Js running 6.7

Everything seems to be running well but just wondering if different firmware for Gs vs J’s
Thanks

This is very interesting. I've suspected I've been missing some pictures as well. I only have a Gmail account setup. I going to get my cell phone linked and see if this holds true or is an anomaly.

Awesome:( so since they are all deployed and working should I go update them all or leave them?

Also is it something I can Just do quick in the field with a loaded sd or do I have to bring them all in?

Thanks in advance

If they are working and you are satisfied with them, then I do not see the urgency to update. If you use the Burst function, you may want to search this thread and read up on how it is affected by latest update.

I have a system with J2 cameras using FW v6.7.0 and a K-23 with FW v 7.6.0.. The system works fine but I was unable to update FW in the J series cameras when I tried. Is this an issue with the cameras? I tried updating with a couple different SD cards also.

The file needs to be unzipped.
