As far as Iran, I think it is going to work itself out.
I hope so. However, I don't see much effort anymore. Trump seemed to have sent a force that was specialized in amphibious assault and seizing land, but it's unclear if they are still a part of the plan.
I get the impression that Iran is a country that will not negotiate. The IRGC has too much influence. If it were up to the Iranian president's office, I think negotiations could be successful, but the IRGC are essentially gangsters. I don't think they are capable of the kind of thinking necessary for Iran to have a place in the world. They only understand force.
I think our best shot at achieving any form of positive outcome is for Israel and the US to pummel the IRGC mercilessly with missiles, drones, bombs, etc., at every single confirmed IRGC facility, relentlessly, day and night. Make it impossible for them to operate. And somehow cut off as much of their funding as possible, maybe by seizing oil tankers, or the entirety of Kharg island.
So far in this conflict, the IRGC has been emboldened. Ideologically, they now have no doubt that they are righteous and just in defending Iran from aggressors. Financially, they have more money than ever. Strategically, they have put up a hell of a fight and intimidated their neighbors, while setting a precedent for controlling the straight.
