I got an email back from Bernie Moreno's office:

It's canned, but at least they got my message and relayed it to him. Hopefully it nudges the needle a bit.

Even the canned responses i've gotten the few times ive written have at least addressed the topic of my comment. That one is kind of sad. "Me work hard, you no worry because me good, i listen". Guess he at least gave you a place to direct future comments that might have a chance of getting to him?

To be fair to the military, they cannot source food without these things in them. The reality is, at scale, nobody can. It takes some effort and savvy shopping.

My sister buys imported flour from Europe for making bread. And she only buys imported pasta for her kids.

I avoid eating grain products in the US whenever possible. We really need better regulation to keep herbicides and other chemicals out of our food.

So Europeans are able to farm at a mass production level without chemicals? do weeds or insects not grow in Europe?

They use chemicals, but they are regulated differently. Herbicides can be used to kill weeds, but not as pre-harvest desiccants. In the US and Canada glyphosate and reglone are often used on food crops as desiccants, causing the chemicals to end up in the food we eat. The style of farming is also quite different, focusing more on grains and potatoes rather than oceans of corn and soybeans, which reduces the need for herbicides.

As far north as I live, most vegetables are grown indoors, so weeds and insects aren't an issue. It does cause the vegetables to be low in nutrients, though.

Thanks. My European farming knowledge limited to Clarksons Farm
The over regulation as depicted on that show would make me end up losing my mind.

If his farm is in the UK, they have their own regulations. They are not part of the EU or the EEA.
