Centennial Crab branch strength

In my area, things go in cycles. Lots of coon one year and then ground hogs are the problem the next year. cottontails the next year.

I am just thinking out loud without trying it... but I see more and better solar power gear on the market. How about a solar powered e fence charger on a few cages around the centennial crabs?

That would definitely work, but may fall into the more hassle than it's worth zone. I think I will graft over a few onto seedling crabs from CSF I haven't worked over yet. I figure they may delay fruiting a bit allowing the tree to get structurally strong. I can work these M7s over to "less desirable" options, as Stu says (and he's right, although they may be more desirable to me). This whole fiasco has made me think more about the benefits of planting apples on Ant. Those Violi's I posted to your thread will tolerate a human climbing in a few more years!
