Lol, it needs cleaned out!Nice mix of things in the truck bed.
Got to keep the beer bottles cleaned out to go to work! No can do.Empty shotgun shells, sheds, & a big hammer in pick-up bed .... that's good redneckin right there! Just need a few empty beer cans to complete the package!

Dad's persimmons are loaded this yr! He planted them a long time ago. One of those things where patience pays off.

Best trees (in my opinion) are direct seeded. If I were to plant sawtooths on my place I'd stratify in the fridge then direct seed with protection in early spring. The Chinkapin are a white oak that doesn't need stratification. I'm just collecting for class projects and to give away though.Do you cold stratify? Direct seed? Both? What do you have the most success with?

EVERYTHING eats persimmon. I believe it's mostly off the ground. Never seen evidence of them being eaten off the tree, but that doesn't mean it isn't happening. Ever bite an unripe persimmon?Do the deer or any other creatures eat them off the trees or off the ground.

How long were your trees in the ground before they started to produce? I have a couple of grafted trees producing second yr. Surprised the hell out of me to find fruits on them this fall!I appreciate that response. I planted some persimmons from the Dr. Deer people a few years ago and have had persimmons on the trees, never seen any indication they were eating off the tree.
Makes me feel better about where they go.
