Cafeteria plot experiment

So a strange thing happened the past 10 days..the bucks that normally show up on my place cruising for does in early to mind November have showed up..and wow have they showed up..several of the biggest bucks I’ve seen on my property have showed up..and several times too! Not quite in daylight yet and I’m hunting as sparingly as I can force myself to and with only the right winds..but wow! I guess maybe “ Build it and they will come” is right!?! all pictures of these bucks were taken either on the cafeteria plot or within 40 yards of it….now to figure out how to get a shot at one of them..(and pray the neighbors don’t subscribe to this thread haha)

I've seen some early on chasing this week. Not full blown but rooting them around for sure! Just the young ones for now.

I have a video on those same cams 2 days ago of a good 8 chasing and grunting..for now they’re just doing the make scrapes every 10 feet and rubbing every other tree bit..

Winter update: been really cold for PA here (windchills approaching -30 and actual temps below 0) and the deer are tearing up the WR/clover in the cafeteria plot..really glad I added some supplemental WR this fall..this little 0.5 acre plot seems to be helping a lot of critters get through the worst of winter..lots of pawing/scratching going on to get the goods beneath the snow

Great proof in your pics, Derek. Rye is always good to have planted somewhere. BTW ..... what were you doing up to post this at 3:13AM???!!!! I think you're up to no good. Pretty chilly in a tree stand at 3 to 4 AM ..........

i live with 2 little future habitat stewards and their sweet momma who are not feeling the greatest....I kinda wishit was the treestand thing..

more like staying away from the barfing 2 year old and keeping the tissues handy for the snot rocket museum...
