Brassicas planted into clover

Belchertown Bowman

5 year old buck +
Hey Folks,

I have always planted my brassicas in a separate section of the food plot from the clover but I am seeing some great photos here of them growing right "in" the clover.

Are there any tricks to this?,.. I am guessing you mow right before the seeding but anything else I need to be aware of before I try it next year.

Any pros and cons of the growing them right in the clover before i try this next year?

Thanks

I always have broadcast the brassicas then mow pretty short (about 4") and had good results. Usually mid-late july here. Mowing sets the clover back and at that time of year it's usually pretty dry. All of my clover has chicory mixed with it and since the clover eventually takes over the plot I start with a heavy chicory to clover ratio (about 70-80% chicory).

Mow and allow a short period for growth to restart. Then spray 1qt/acre gly and drill brassicas, you can add clover at the same time if you have a lot of weeds that will leave bare spots when killed by the gly.
