Big sale on keen ranger pt camera.

omicron1792

5 year old buck +
I highly recommend you try.

I see it runs off Reolink. Is it a wifi thing or cellular?

It’s cell. I use a SIM card that’s eiotclub that’s 100/year.

so if i get spotty service now, probably not worth it then right? looks very interesting

If I want a cell cam primarily for catching trespassers is this a better option or say a tactacam reveal?

So these cards connect to Verizon, att, and T-Mobile so if just one has good service then it will work.

My farm had terrible service with Verizon. Like no coverage. I switched all my cameras to att and my cell phone and they all do great. I would see if one of the other companies towers I mentioned is nearby

I don't have one of these but just in how they work I'd say way better. They are a hunting revision from reolink who's focus is in security cams. The real time video, ability to pan/tilt, way bigger detection zone, way wider FOV, etc make them much more desirable for security to me.

I highly recommend you try.

I was just wondering if there was going to be a black friday sale on these damn things.. Thanks for making me spend more $.

I run both.

Keen ranger is based on a security camera so I think this one better for that purpose. Can mount them up high

each one I buy I can easily justify the cost. When I think about the recurring cost…I just stop thinking about it!

Seems like the reolink go PT might still be a good option? Cheaper and only down side is it’s white and low glow vs no glow which might be a benefit in some cases.

Do you have any of that ghosting effect with night videos? I saw a YouTube video where they said that was a possible downside.

A little. But overall I’m very happy with the quality of video, day or night.

how much does the data plan cost? How long do the batteries last?

Still trying to figure out these cellular trail cams. On the keen, is it motion activated? Does anyone have a trail cam that they recommend? How do those work as well? Do I need to buy a sim card for those? Do they come with one and I just need to buy a data plan?

Data plans are bought separate. Any SIM card. I use one that is 100/year.

If solar panel is in sun it lasts forever. If I’m shade I will have them lose some power during night then recharge the next day.

Yes keen is motion activated.

If you want a basic cell cam that’s great, get Tactacam reveal gen 2. Go ahead and buy 32mb Tactacam sd card, Tactacam solar panel, and Tactacam lithium battery. These come with their own SIM card, Verizon and att and you can pick one that works best in your area.

Couple interesting things with the keen this morning.
First I get this buck that seems likely spooking from the camera filter clunking as it transitions from IR filter to daytime.

Then I had sand hill cranes walking around picking at the seeds that are waiting for rain to germinate (or more likely the rye that almost made it to viable). I used the microphone/speaker for the first time and got them moving the hell out of there😁

How do you like the Keen Cameras?

So far i really like them. It's a game changer to be able to pan and survey a whole plot whenever you want.

I don't like how that filter clunk from a cam hung on a box blind clearly scared a buck though.

Dang good idea!
