Big sale on keen ranger pt camera.

Couple interesting things with the keen this morning.
First I get this buck that seems likely spooking from the camera filter clunking as it transitions from IR filter to daytime.

Then I had sand hill cranes walking around picking at the seeds that are waiting for rain to germinate (or more likely the rye that almost made it to viable). I used the microphone/speaker for the first time and got them moving the hell out of there😁
Whoa, that thing didn't waste any time getting out of dodge.

Also, what was the price back in November? Look to be $210 now

Probably a little more than that? That is a good price. Data has gotten cheaper since I paid for the SIM card too. Maybe I need to buy another..

What does the data plan run? What sim/cell carrier are you using?

Whichever carrier you desire, i have the 3 way eiotclub SIM. So right now it's around $10/month. Which isn't bad when taking into account you can watch it live and pan/tilt as you desire.

I assume you have to choose a carrier and stick with it? I'm not sure how good att & TMobile are in my areas, I can tell with my existing Verizon cams how signal is from them. I'd like to check signal from the other 2 before I commit to one or the other.

How is battery life on the cams?

I've only had it up since spring but it has stayed pegged on 100% battery. To be seen how things work once the days get short and temps plummit. @omicron1792 had some out through the winter I believe.

Ones in direct sunlight stayed at 100 percent. Ones in dappled light would run down faster, maybe a month if time between me charging in heart of winter.

I talked to company and they said you could connect 2-3 cords to lengthen solar panel distance from camera. You could take solar panel all the way up tree to get more sunlight. I just didn’t really feel like climbing a tree! Ha

Some takeaways after more time with my sample of 1 -

1. Still running good with nary a hint of battery life concern
2. The night time "ghosting" effects are annoying. Had bucks walking by and cant even see their antlers at times.
3. Detection circuit definitely isn't as good as my traditional style ridgetec cell cams. I would not rely solely on this camera to tell you if certain bucks have been by. A lot more triggers are happening on my ridgetec cam 40 yards down the treeline looking at the same food plot.

Good review. I agree more of a surveillance of large area camera than pics at a specific spot.

I use my cameras to look at my plants as much as looking at deer. Ha

@omicron1792 or anyone else with Keen Rangers - A bear severed the power cord from the solar panel on mine. Anyone had to replace one? I didn't take a close look at the connectors in person and now looking online I cant seem to find the replacement panel/plug combo that matches what is shown on the website for the ranger PT. The cords are hardwired to the panels unfortunately.

Curious if anyone else has had to replace one and the path they took.

I did contact them one time and they could send me an extra cord. Can probably just buy an extra solar panel from them.

It is a microusb connection, so could probably find a cheap solar panel off Amazon to replace also.

I think the cables are all hardwired to the panels, at least it is on the new reolink GO PT i have sitting beside me. This particular one has a USB-c plug on it.

However, the Keen ranger pics on the website show a plug that appears to not be USB?
