Big 8’s

Here he is after we found him. Really wish I would have found him before the predators did but that’s the way life goes sometimes I guess.

Here’s another big 8 from that same year. Not sure what ever happened to him, he was around for a few years and then never had him again. I love big 8ts!

Since we are posting older pics of big 8's here's one I posted some time back. Unfortunately lions ate him before he got old enough for us.IMG_0405.jpeg

The big 8 I fed much of the summer was taken about 100 yards from my property. I sure wish my family would have had a chance at him. But.....I also wonder what he could have been next year. I think he is only 2 1/2 yo.

Beautiful deer. I don’t want to profess to know too much about your area or any specific deer, but I’d be SHOCKED if that deer was 2.5.
At least 4.5 if you agree with Dr. Kroll.

I would also guess that buck is at least 4.5 - it looks like he is starting to get the neck rolls, which is only something we usually see on old bucks.

Got a decent picture of our big 8 this morning. He’s lost a significant amount of weight so it’s good to see him back on food. At 5 1/2 he’s ready so hopefully someone can get on him in the next 2 weeks.

So sorry . Cant help it. Season is on in Mexico and the bucks look great. Since we are looking at big 8's and age thought this old repeat would be fun. I watched him for 4 years and can say with as much certainty as can be said that he is 7. Would he have gotten bigger....Dont care . He was big enough. Granted he has a couple drop tines . Cheating as an 8 but he still pretty cool at 200"

Is that the 1 you gave a buzz cut?

So both your biggest 8s and that 10+ were all taken?

No he was on a different farm. I actually didn’t have any pics of him but I only half ass run two cameras on that farm. It’s actually under contract to sell. He and three other bucks came in following a doe that had come back in heat. He could have spent most of time a mile away for all I know.

Yep all dead. All from rifle season. It’s amazing how a bunch of guys who hit the woods for a couple days a year can run through all these mature deer without much effort. Rifles + rut + bait = ballgame. But it’s part of it here. I have a couple nice ones that if they survive could be good deer next year and then 3-4 old guys that at this point are all that’s left for me to pursue for this season.
