Anyone Ever Planted WTI - PowerPlant?

Belo

5 year old buck +
I was looking into trying some soy beans this year as many farmers around me grow them and the deer are used to them. I know they lose their attraction close to the season. Went down a rabbit hole about varieties and some foodplot companies offer some that are supposed to stay palatable longer like biologics soy beans. I would prefer to broadcast but I have a hand drill that would work. WTI's powerplant is sort of fascinating, but I'm confused by the strategy.

WTI's powerplant includes a few bean varieties but also sunflowers and misc. Do I plant late spring and then cut it down in the fall and plant something else? Do I leave it standing? Surely I wouldn't want deer hiding in there and surely there wouldn't be much edible late into october either.

I have planted it before but it was years ago. If memory serves I think I ended up buying the same combo of seeds from the mix individually and doing my own combo. I haven't bought any since they put sun hemp in there to replace maybe milo? You are right about nothing being left at years end. Buying the seeds locally and mixing my own saved some money and then you can change up the ratios how ever you want. Mine sure didn't grow like what they show in their magazine that's for sure. It's not a bad combo they just charge a lot for the convenience. jmo

I think beans can still be a big draw after everything has dried down if they are still holding pods and the pods haven't shattered. A guy needs a lot of acres and limited browse pressure to get and keep the pods though. My "big" plot is only about 2.5 acres and there aint a chance of pods making it enough to be remain a draw after the leaves turn. I could see it being like a "summer release" and being terminated for a fall plot planting depending on your location though.

I planted enlist beans just to be able to clean up my plots with 2,4-d but still have living roots and food this spring summer and then drilled my fall blends into the beans like Grant Woods used to before the "release" method. You could use powerplant to do something like that.
