9 wild Turkeys vs 50# of corn

Maddog66

My wife likes to watch wildlife behind our house and occasionally spreads a 50# sack of corn out there…mostly to watch the deer. Well a flock of 9 turkeys figured out what was up, and now show up within minutes of the dump and hang close all daylight hours.

I happened to be out by her feeding spot yesterday, about 24 hours after she last put corn out there.

Is it possible that 9 turkeys could eat that much corn that fast?

I couldn't get turkeys to eat corn. They went berzerk on some peanuts, but wouldn't touch the corn I offered.

Raccoons and bears can eat a pile of corn in a short amount of time. If it was 50 lbs, I would suspect a bear.

Huh….Turks are like fat kids at a candy convention here with corn.

Bears are mostly in hibernation right now but a big old boar still out, could probably put away a 50 easy! No sign of them though.

I can’t imagine a turkey crop holds more than a few ounces….maybe 1/4 pound at a time?

That's what I was thinking. I can't imagine a turkey eating over 5.5 lbs of corn in a day.

Could easily be a bunch of raccoons got the bulk of it, and birds cleaned up what was left.

I'd be out there with a trail camera and another bag of corn just to quell my curiosity.
