.22 Quiet and Accurate ammo

I usually used the Remington subsonic. Comes in little green boxes.

I would just get a few boxes and find whatever shoots best in your rifle. Precision is key in your situation.

I just bought a pre-charged pneumatic (PCP) BRK Ghost .25 air gun. Had to buy a little scuba tank to fill it.

I could shoot anything at my house. I live in the country. Didn’t want to scare my deer! I can shoot this thing and the deer up the hill in the food plot don’t even look up.

This thing is a lot of fun. Super accurate. Have burned through about 450 pellets in a few weeks. Had an old Loopy 3x9 on it and just put a 10x25x52 on it. I might buy a .30 cal to shoot coyotes with. Would dedicate that to shooting air gun slugs not pellets.

I think a nutria size target at 100 yards would be easy. I don't have a chronograph but I’m currently shooting 34 grain pellets at around 900 fps. What is crazy is kids who haven’t shot much seem like they can pick it up and make hit after hit.

Shoot from well side the room, make the house your suppressor.

I've shot a bunch of Aguila Super Sniper but never very far.

Squirrel Purge ‘24 has begun. Shot 6 today. Ground Squirrel Purge was a couple weeks ago.

I love this new air gun I posted above. The leaves are still on the trees but I zapped one deep in the timber from my deck today. Can’t wait to get those leaves off the trees. Gonna be mayhem.

The loudest part isn’t the gun. It’s the “Pwop” sound of a hit.

I picked up a 10/22 charger as a suppressor host. I found that even with its 8" barrel, all the bulk ammo varieties I had laying around were supersonic. That made it noticeably louder than the same ammo out of a suppressed buckmark with a 4" barrel (everything is subsonic out of that). And since they started at just slightly over the the speed of sound, they dropped below the speed of sound quickly and accuracy wasn't great.

After some research, I tried "CCI Standard Velocity Target 22 Long Rifle Ammo 40 Grain Lead Round Nose", It claims 1070 fps, which is slightly subsonic. Out of my 8" barrel, they averaged 1004 fps. They reliably cycle my new 10/22 charger, and they are reliably subsonic. With the suppressor, the cycling action is the primary noise.

Aquila has an option that that's very similar to specs to the cci. I tried it too. The only difference I can tell between them is that the Auila makes a foul smell.

I'll use up my other bulk ammo on the buckmark, and other 22s I have. But the charger will only get these CCIs.

I started with a little box from Cabelas to test with, then bought 5000 rounds for 349 delivered from targetsports. Its significantly cheaper than 22lr labeled as subsonic. And since its a 40 grain bullet that's barely subsonic, that's about as much energy as I can get.
