John Deere 8300 Drill

Yearling... With promise
I have an old 8300, we still use it but all of the adjustments are rusted solid. It’s pretty much set up to drill rye and won’t budge any direction. You guys think it’s worth tearing it down this winter and working on it? It does have a grass seed box that is rusted in as well.

We have about 7 tillable acres I can get this drill to, we are always experimenting and trying different mixes and plots so no real plan on what to plant next year or in the future still.

Thanks in advance.

Depends on the cost. Lots of us on here would LOVE a seed drill. Looks like a used price is 2500-4500. Your call, but I would love a drill.

I tore down an old John Deere Van Brunt and it was a bear but would do it again as it is a great drill. The 8300 is newer and may be a little simpler. The Van Brunt was put together with 90% carriage bolts, which means it really helps to have two people on assembly and disassembly. I'm not sure about your 8300. There is a grain drill salvage yard in Oklahoma that I purchased parts from that was reasonable.
