GPS guide for spraying and planting

Anyone using a GPS for spraying and planting with their no till? I have a "test plot" for the local seed place I'm putting in and I want to plant it and spray it right. 7 acre field, and the first few rounds I'm fine, but as things get tighter, i lose track of where I've been and want to do better. I found a couple of apps that claim to work, but I know the garmins etc are more accurate. What's other folks using without spending $1000 on something I'll use 2 days a year.

If I'm not mistaken Bill has some kind of GPS he uses. If he ever gets done playing in MO I'm sure he'll chime in.

Most of the GPS receivers are not accurate enough for spraying. They do make receivers with sufficient resolution, but they are expensive. Large farmers have them in tractors tied to computers. If you want to make sure you don't leave gaps, I'd suggest building a Po boy foamer: https://habitat-talk.com/index.php?...ransferred-from-qdma-forums.5838/#post-113074

I built one of these for my boom sprayer. It works great. I did go through a couple cheap compressors but got a better one that has lasted for years now. I like the one on my sprayer, I put one on my kasco no-till versa drill as well. They are a great visual aid and add very little cost to planting. I use the same foaming agent they put in the commercial foamers.

Thanks,

Jack

mines the expensive kind. But really cheap compared to the newer age models. Tremble ez guide 250. Base model is about $1500. With good antenna about $2000. At today’s price.

It was more when I bought it.
I find it to be spot on for the tractor/sprayer position. But I have it set for a 12” overlap and in reality it overlaps about 4 foot. But I can adjust for that because it knows where I am on the screen.

My sprayer boom is 40 foot. I’ve tried to use it on the side by side with an 8 foot boom. Useless because of the overlap outage.

I’ll never spray a bean field without it though.

The only real drawback is that you have to really make yourself watch where your actually driving an not concentrate on the screen. The screen is flat, the land isn’t.
