Automatic apple dispenser fence!

I was just reading my WI outdoor news and saw an ad from wolfraths nursery. I guess they developed a new easy fence with a automatic apple dispenser. It keeps the critters away from your tree but rolls the apples out of your fence. This allows you keep deer on your land, because they can now eat the apples that would otherwise be wasted inside your fence! So far I couldn't find a picture or price anywhere. I'm thinking this would help with our bear problems and they won't have to climb over and up our trees. Instead they can wait patiently for the apples to roll to them. Lol. How many are you guys going to order this spring?

I picked up some apple trees from them this past Spring, about 2 hours away.
I don't have bears around here but sounds like a good idea. I wonder if they'd still be trying to get at the trees if they can see and/or smell them? Pictures would be nice though...I'm guessing you've emailed them? They were pretty good with responding for tree orders.

I don’t think this contraption will prevent bear damage.

Ya I was making a joke. I'm sure the bears would just tear up the apple dispenser and wreck the tree anyways. I would be out even more money. It actually doesn't sound like that bad of idea but I can picture a lot of flaws. I believe it's more on the lines of a gimmick.

The bear here don’t care if there is any apples on the tree. They will just walk up to it, reach up and break branches off. Then they will climb the fence around the tree and wreck it, then climb the tree and snap in off. This is with no apples on the tree at all. This spring if I have time I am going to put up an electric fence.

Or maybe a dog

I would think this "contraption" would be some sort of a cone shaped product (hopefully of some sort of supported mesh material) that would allow air and rain to pass. I would bet the smaller end mounts to the tree via some sort of strap and up to say the first scaffold of branches. The bottom would be bigger and lower and sit or connect in some manner to the top of the protective cage. Not sure how practical something like that would be.....but it would allow falling apples to bunch/roll away from the cage/ tree. Just what I envision something like that would look like/function.
