    Value of this cultipacker

It will be because of people abusing things like this that will cause us to have no more auctions, or auctions will change with a higher minimum price ruining them for many people. Hope anyone promoting the use of that tool is ok with ruining auctions for everyone for their own benefit. If...

    Habitat hooks.... my homemade versions

Don't tighten this too tight or you will oval the inner pipe one way and the outer pipe the other way. Might have been better to install a pin here. That bolt might also get hung up on branches and be a hook of it's own.

    MN CWD Hunt

kl9, I never said they were worried, only that I would be. I try not to think I know what others think. :emoji_blush: Decided to stay near home during the only cold snap of the winter and do some fish spearing instead of going to the State Park and shooting a bunch of 1.5 year old bucks.

    MN CWD Hunt

Not sure of the total kill in the area, but here is a pic of the distribution of tested deer as of 2/16/2017. I would be worried if I was to the SE of the hot spot not knowing the condition of the deer so close to the hotspot.

    Hinge cutting tools

Hand saw like a silky saw. If it requires a chainsaw it is too big of a tree to hinge IMO. Hand saw is good exercise and rarely do you accidentally cut too deep. Use a hard rake or garden hoe as a hooking tool.

Buck Survey: Wet/Cold Snap Killing fawns

The former wildlife manager for the metro parks once warned us hunters not to expect many 2.5 year old bucks for the hunt as they had rainy cold weather at the time when those deer would have been born. He mentioned that another of his parks about 30 miles to the north didn't have the same...

Semi-Auto rifles for deer in Pa. ???

I don't speak for anyone else, but as long as not too many deer are harvested killing the most deer possible is the goal. (Improving habitat can greatly increase the number of deer that can be killed each year.) If allowing semi-automatics with your current regs kills too many deer than...

Semi-Auto rifles for deer in Pa. ???

Good for the ammo and gun manufacturers as their sales should go up. Were semi-auto rifles legal for other things before? Here in the southern part of the state rifles aren't allowed for deer, but are allowed for coyotes.

Strange the DNR didn't make the entire area Intensive or open for Early Anterless like the area to the east of this area if that has been the DNR's intention all along.

    Mycorrhizal fungi...anyone applied it?

From the web: Mycorrhizae are symbiotic relationships that form between fungi and plants. The fungi colonize the root system of a host plant, providing increased water and nutrient absorption capabilities while the plant provides the fungus with carbohydrates formed from photosynthesis. From...

    MN CWD Hunt

Don't know about eradication, don't care. Slowing the spread is the best we can hope for IMO. Where do I normally hunt? Minnesota mostly, specifically it has changed over the years. Started darn near SD, near Ely for a few years, near WI and in WI, hunted Ripley for a few years, lately...

    Japanese Yew

I am a former landscaper. In areas with deer problems we often had to select plants that were deer resistant basically in order for anything to grow at the location as it isn't plants getting nibbled on, it is plants getting almost mowed to the ground. So things like yews and junipers get...

    Japanese Yew

If you have too much water it is fatal too. Wonder how different the Japanese yew is from the Canada yew? A link to Canada yew: http://urbanecologycenter.org/blog/native-plant-of-the-month-canada-yew.html
