Zip Tie Firewood Measure for Chainsaw

I found a channel on the tube I really enjoy. Dude makes a firewood video every day. I caught one where he had zip ties on the vertical part of his saw handle for measuring piece length. I put some on mine and tried it, and it works really damn well. Before that, I had a hell of a time getting short pieces and long pieces and then the stacks getting goofy because of it. It's a real simple hack, but damn effective.

Yeah, I cut this pile using that rig, and it looked so much better than when I free handed it. I also quit splitting the difference on that last piece. Instead of making two 12” pieces out of a 24”, I cut my normal last piece and throw the short in another pile.

I just enjoy reading and looking for stuff. And I have a never ending need for straight lines. If I’m gonna do it, it might as well look good. My experiment in stacking wood this year may get redone because of it.
