Youth turkey hunt

After our hunt ruined by 2 road hunting trespassers last year. My 13 year old tagged his bird on the second mourning. It was a really cool hunt with 7 birds gobbling within a 1/2 mile. We had 3 roosted on our land and after 1 1/2 the closest gobbler finally came in. He took him at full strut 10yards from are decoy. 9 1/2 inch beard. I put it on the pull down scale I bought for deer and it read 29lbs( I find this hard to believe, I need to double check this scale).
