Are you in Sauk co?Saw close to 30 deer opening day. Only 2 of those were bucks. Sunday morning shot a big doe. Found out that neighbors shot our #1 and #2 hit list bucks. Next year isn't looking good for bucks.
Pic?Plenty of deer in SW WI this weekend. Tagged a buck yesterday, time to start working on our doe management objectives this weekend.
If you have an unpressured food source, the next five days are going to be bonkers. Muzzle loader season may be even better if we get the snow they're calling for on Sunday
Yes, I saw deer all weekend. I shot a doe on Saturday.Plenty of deer in SW WI this weekend.
I agree, this weekend looks good. The forecast is showing snow all day Saturday (3-5 inches). Windy and cold weather. I plan to hunt Thursday through Sunday. Most of the time I'll be sitting in heated blinds over my brassica plots. If you have an unpressured food source, the next five days are going to be bonkers. Once the snow stops falling, those are my favorite conditions to hunt in. Sound is muffled, deer are antsy to move after being holed up, and its absolutely beautiful.
I'm sure we are down in my zone. But since this is the first year of yet another boundary change we have no true harvest history to compare anymore.Wis dnr is saying the deer kill so far is up like 4% from last year... Anyone believe that? In my little area I would say otherwise. Farmland country so rounded by state forest, no hunters out. Saturday morning I heard a total of 7 shots I think, and 2 were mine. Afternoon maybe a dozen and 2 of those my son. Talked to a buddy who hunted the kettles and he reported all day still hunting he never saw another hunter. That's unheard of.
Did you get out at all for gun?I'm sure we are down in my zone. But since this is the first year of yet another boundary change we have no true harvest history to compare anymore.
