Will cell cams work without a cell plan?

I'd like to get one or two new infrared trail cams. Seems it's getting hard to find non-cellular cams and even harder to find infrared cams, and even harder yet to find one that also fits or has a lock box for bear work.

Any ideas how I can find this and figure it out? Cell cams don't work in my area, and I really don't need cellular anyway. I just need some red flash cams for which I can get lock boxes or bear proof boxes.

you can buy a IR Cuddeback L series cuddelink camera for at most $129.99 - that will work in a network, with a cell home or on its own without cell plan or service and they make a safe for it .

^ And you can put solar on it, thus keeping battery consumption low. I have a new L model as my base camp camera now. I keep it in the camp area and could retrieve all my pics in one place.....if I did not have cell. Nice to not have to run to each camera to get pics.

Been wondering how well my base camera would work if I placed it inside my cabin at my land. Thus it would stay out of the weather.....and I could look at pics from my table in the cabin. Could even use grid power to that base camp camera.

^ Anyone doing this? Wonder the affects on range, etc.

I think I will give this a try. Not sure....but maybe Cudde should offer an outside antenna set up for this kind of situation? Maybe not a huge market. Dunno. My current base cam is only 50 yards away from my cabin....so I think it will work for me. Do you use 110 volt power to your home camera?

Thanks John.......good intel (as usual).
