What's invading my plot?

Any idea what this is in my grain plot? Ohio.

looks like hairy chickweed, grows everywhere out here too
 
I always called it mouse ear chickweed. But Tim is right, its chickweed.
2-4,D or ignore it. I would think most grains will out grow it.

The problem with ignoring it is that it produces a lot of seed. May be a problem for the next plot whatever that may be.
 
Yep, chickweed. I had a thread on the old forum entitled "Year of the chickweed". It was everywhere here. And not just on my place, it was everywhere. In the end, it really didn't seem to be much of an issue and in fact, I've come to believe that soil health needs something growing...never fallow and dead. These early spring weeds may actually be good for our soil. And healthy soil grows better forages later on.

Chickweed runs its course pretty quickly...
