Well, another year, another late frost

Woke up to a 32 degree frost this morning and will assume another late frost will kill the buds on my pear trees. I have had those trees for at least 8 years and over the last couple years they have had beatiful blooms on them only to be burned off by a late frost. I will go down in a couple days to check the damage.

I am not sure that 32 F especially this late will necessarily affect your trees.

I think we all sweat late season frosts. That is a very useful chart areospacefarmer, but I wonder if there is a time element involved as well. I have no clue, just wondering.

I think there is a time element involved in how long the buds are exposed to those kill temps. I am sure it’s not exact but the chart gives a good idea if you will have fruit or not based on temps
