Wife and I bought an apple I've never heard of at a local orchard yesterday. "Ludacrisp" is the apple, which the orchard owner said was released for growing / sale in 2020. Super eater!! Crisp, juicy, with a great sweet / tart balance. The sign on the bin said Ludacrisp has "tropical flavor notes". We picked up the faint flavor note of maybe papaya or passion fruit along with the apple flavor. They don't seem to be a big apple - 2 1/2" dia. avg. Glad we bought plenty ..... some for fresh eating and some for mixing into a big batch of sauce. Also loaded up on Crimson Topaz, one of our favorite eating apples.
