Towers for ground blinds

I’m not on any list but they’ve been on sale for the last 6 months or so on their website. Bought them right off their site. Free shipping to boot. All out of stock now. Have been for awhile.

Are we still talking about the Millennium Buck Hut? Web site says they must be purchased through a dealer and the weight is 500 lbs. I can't imagine free shipping!

Redneck soft sided.

What I saw on their site a soft sided blind was ~$1,300....and that was the cheap one. I can’t swing that... and I think that is just the blind! I can build an actual shooting house like I have tower and all for that with money left over.

I paid just over $300 for the blind + the treated lumber for the platform and brackets.

That's the site I went to and bought mine. Sold out as someone mentioned earlier. I bought the basic model, would never spend that much for a blind either Jbird.

I think the $1,300 includes the metal tower. I did not buy the tower. Just the blind. $350 for the burlap version and $450 for the tall ghillie. Free shipping. Really tough to beat those prices, imo.

I have the burlap version on a hay wagon. My daughter shot a buck out of it this year. At 130 yards there were 6 deer and we would moving around trying to get her moved from one window to another. None of them could see in. Highly recommend it.

I have a cheap popup blind on a tower. Unfortunately it is too small to fit the redneck soft sided or I would have bought another one. Elements beat up the popups pretty good but it works.

Not my idea, but it looks like this could help with the wind problem.View attachment 32984
I would build a platform like this. Wrap the posts in heavy black plastic and burlap. Install a permanent roof so snow is not an issue. Replace the plastic and burlap every few years.

Wonder how long those canvas covers last on the Redneck popup blinds if left out year around? My buddy had one in near an open field and it got holes in the top from owls, etc landing and sitting on top of it watching the field all day long..

I've been toying with this idea of a while too. My problem is moving the materials and constructing things on site. Guys who have seen me post on here know that my property is mostly woods with 1 field. But the property is hilly. So for me, this would be a build on site (likely 4 different leg heights. The construction portion worries me the most only because getting everything to where I want to build it is 1 thing and then getting on a ladder in the woods (by myself) is a whole different concern.

Anyway...

I was thinking about building a platform with 4 x 4 posts.
But I was thinking of using burlap to wrap around the whole thing as far as walls are concerned.
I could put some type of roof on it (but that is where things get concerning for me building by myself).

Now with all of this talk of wind, I'm wondering if it's not worth it. I've held of because I typically use my climber anyway.

I have the materials for the tower itself. That I’m not worried about and don’t need. It’s the blind portion I am trying to figure out. I will look more for the redneck (just the blind). I like that they seem to have a metal support structure so they should withstand the wind better. Any body got any real detailed pics of their soft sided redneck they are willing to share?

You could also build a platform, then build sort of an internal frame for whatever ground blind you have.

Or, build the platform with the extended posts coming up. Run cables crossing above the ground blind. Secure the top of the ground blind where the cables cross to keep it from falling in.

Not sure if these are real detailed but it’s what I’ve got on my phone. They are just lag screwed to the platform with 3” lag screws and washers. The metal frame has 8 holes in it on the bottom.

Not much for detailed pic but here's one with a side window and a corner, 3 big side windows and 4 corner windows. One side is the door and it has a widow in it, the windows have that shootable mesh you can put in them but I don't like it so it's out. The frame is 1" square tubing held together with bolts and goes together pretty easy, there is a bar above and below the big side windows for a rest but not on the narrow corner windows. I bought a shooting stick and use that for a rest, I made a couple hangers out of this flexible wire.

TenPoint - I like your setup. I'm looking at doing the same thing with treated 4x4 posts sunk in quickcrete. I'll finish with a 6' square platform and I can just plop a redneck right on top with a front end loader.

No loader here. We used the winch on the UTV for assistance though. Worked just fine. It's not too heavy. My platforms are 6'x8'. So both have a 2' porch. I've got a couple U-Posts sunk in and bolted to the legs. They've survived a few windy days. We'll see long term how they do. Shot a deer out of each one with the gun this year so they'd paid off so far. The ghillie one is in position for a bow set-up. Just didn't see what I wanted to this year from it during bow season. Had a couple shooters near it in daylight, just wasn't in the thing.

I really like the metal support frame... I think if I can get one for a reasonable price (by my definition) I may try this...at least one. When I build my tower box blinds, there is a certain amount of risk involved when I do it....I am pretty much a one man show and I find myself doing some things that I'm not particularly proud of or comfortable doing. I don't have an issue with heights. But things like extension ladders in the bucket of an FEL or trying to man handle more than I should and the like....I know I'm playing with fire and play with fire enough and sooner or later you get burned.

We will see. it's a long "off season" so I am sure I will come up with something and I will share as I do.

I did find where other places where sold out but the redneck soft sided blind itself was roughly $500....the $1,300 price I found must have included a metal tower/stand as well.

You can still get their 6x6 blind for $399 on their site. It's shaped like a haybale, but doesn't stop it from being used on a platform.
