throw and grow plot

Here is the Throw & Grow plot I planted
with a strip of PTT down the middle,

I think the Throw and Grow was Sweet Rye Grass, Radish, Rape maybe some clover to...

looking at the plot I wish I would have mixed in the PTT with the the Throw and Grow mix instead of making a strip down the middle.

Rape of Radish?

I did not. This spot was supposed to have sweet corn. My Father in law added some fertilizer not sure what...probably 10-10-10. He never did plant the corn, so I planted the brassicas.

That's looking very good. I planted my fall mix in much the same way.

This picture really demonstrates how much moisture and nutrients trees take, nothing seems to be growing near these trees

Here is a shot looking down the plot from the ends near those trees. The turnips are about golf ball size.

Sweet!

Nice size for not giving them too much fertilizer.

Big guy enjoying the plot until he gets bugged by a little guy

Good looking plot! I'm going more towards the thro and mow or thro and roll.

Visited my throw and grow plot. The PTT look like they are turning brown, but the rape and radish looks green still. Are the PPT more sensitive to cold?

Not usually, most times it is the radish greens that succumb to the frosts first.

The sweet rye grass is still nice and green

must be a moisture or nitrogen issue then. Maybe planted a little too thick...

I'm not sure, but there are plenty of bulb production to hopefully keep them visiting for a while.

Could likely be a combination of all three. Did you notice anything out of the ordinary before the cold set in. Anything going on with the foliage? Some type of powdery mildew or something of that nature on the leaves maybe? If you don't plan to already, I would rotate that area completely out of brassicas for next season just in case you have the start of some disease issues going on in there.

I think it looked fine the last time I swapped SD cards in my camera there. That was about 3 weeks ago.

May not be that issue then, you would have likely noticed it for sure. You still might want to consider rotating that area into soybeans or something else and putting your brassicas in elsewhere, maybe where your beans are at now?

Looks like the rye grass is getting some use

Not sure if it is viable in the photo. The darker green grass on the right is in the seed bank. The lighter green to the left is the rye grass...at least that is where buck on bag seed was planted.
