The youngest and I sat in the box blind tonight for a couple hours. Just before the end of legal shooting time we had what I thought were 3 anterless deer come into a plot about 100 yards away. I didn’t think he would want to shoot one. Last season he passed on everything anterless holding out for a big one. Which as we all know is easier said than done. Tonight he said he thought he would shoot one. I said shoot the biggest of the 3. Turned out to be a broken racked spike we have had on camera a lot. Which was fine, I really don’t feel like I have a surplus of does around. .270 shooting Remington 130gr core-lockts. 100 yard shot dumped him where he stood.
