What are you trying to hit with your planting date? Is it best winter survival or to keep it tender? I pushed my planting dates later last year, and everything got eaten to the ground. The year before, I planted spring wheat in July and it headed out. Still got eaten, but it dropped all it's leaves before it was eaten. My Aug planted spring Trit never got over 10" before the deer smoked it all. I want very badly to get to 3' awnless triticale headed out and milky when the heat shuts off.
Still chasing that...
