Looking to rent or buy a 13hp stump grinder .

No huge project maybe a dozen 15 inch or so trees, maybe 50 smaller ones young regrowth like 6 inch. About the same number on mostly rotted obes like 20 year old, but annoying.

A little summer cleanup to maybe add 1/2 acre or more.

I had a similar sized project and I just hired out a guy with a self propelled stump grinder. Those large machines chew though stumps in no time, so I'm happy with the $500 or so I spent.

Got a few at home to takd care of too.

Going to see how she works .

Due to the distance to rent one, I purchased a PowerKing electric start with the 14hp Kohler about four years ago. It does not get much use, but when it is needed, it’s the right tool for the job. I also have used it to trench shallow trenches for low voltage wire. While it will not pay for itself cost wise, time-wise it was the right decision, as renting one is a four to five hour ordeal each time.

That seems pretty comparable. Opening up a few spots, then selling it in the summer for what I paid. Tool rental is probably close ot the same hassle. Ontop of it, the closest places only have 8hp units.

$850 with a spare set of new blades seems reasonable to me. Bought wet stone shrpener that does chisels. Might help keep the exisitng bblades fresh. PRobably could sell those blades for 200or more and still get $850 for the machine alone.
