Stock Market is the bottom in?

I bought some pltr as well. Also bought some sofi yesterday and pru. Cracker Barrel has been doing well for me too.

Cookie tray is coming around in GIS. I already bought a block at $48, and sold a march $50 call at 89 cents.

I’m pondering grabbing another block. Could buy it and sell a March $47.50 call. Could also sell a March $45 put at $1.50.

There’s a dividend coming around 4/10 for 61 cents. It’s the sweet spot when you get a good buy price, sell a good call, and pocket the dividend in six weeks.

I don’t love the company, but they also make like 22,000% (yes twenty two thousand percent) margin on their inputs. They just have to figure out how to keep the people eating. Any outfit that buys wheat and corn for 5-10 cents a pound and sells it for $20 a pound is a producer in my book.

They are also a dividend aristocrat, in that they have a rich history of raising their dividend every year. They are a $23B company. They have $5B in cash, they pay a 5.5% dividend, and they're also buying back about 5% of their stock each year at these prices. If I were them, I'd keep the dividend where it is, and plow money into buybacks at these prices. If we get a shock to the system and interest rates collapse, GIS could be back to $70 real quick like.

I wouldn't be shocked if the company gets taken private at this level.

If the economy goes down staples go up. Been looking for food / AG. 220x markup doesn't put a dent in their bottom line if grain price change much like in the AG business.

Supposedly Warren buffet made good money on a farm purchase in 1987. If the real estate bubble pops might see if my brother in law can farm a 50 or do acre parcel. You guys showed me how cheap the AG land prices are in central NY.

SD. Finally got a few bags of gypsum.

In NJ right now. Walmart does not sell snow tires here. Stocks been a dud, so just sold it for general mills. Buy an extra stock of Amazon and change goes into CEF.

Probably should buy Cabot stock. Sister in laws dairy farms milk goes to Cabot creamery. Gotta bet for the family business.

Feeling renewal and nuke will be a bust. Really thinking ge Vernova and caterpillar stock. John deer leads in autonomous AG and hyundai leads in construction equipment as well as industrial robots. Seeing these backup Gens everywhere.

@Telemark how much TCGL stock are you still stuck in with the US closing its market for over a week now?

Sometimes them firecrackers blow up in your hand......

Bought GIS today. Bought a little EWY etf. South korea. They had a good year last year.

You ETF lovers or haters, any you recommend?

Wife finally went through her jewelry. Got about 5 ounces of gold and almost 2 of silver. Assuming 10-14k stuff. Called the more reputable jeweler in the area. Feeling the Im getting hosed vibe. Any advice here? Onliine place. Coin stores better?

Also the Sprott gold n silver ETF is 54 or so. 5200 bucks gold 76 silver. Anybody still buying any of either? Any advice on a silver one? Guessing that has more shorter term growth.

Mentioned it before but my best ETF has been VOLT. Up 23% in the last 3 months.

Another one that's done well for me is SMH. It's filled with semi-conductor companies.

And XME is a mining and metals ETF that's up 31% in the last 3 months even after a rough February.

I went in as much as I could on SOFI with this last dip(today). Really hoping it turns around and quickly.

^^^

I dont think we have hit the bottom yet. I have cash to deploy. No interest yet. I wanna see that fear and greed index get down into extreme fear.

I read the article about Buffett and his farm purchase many yrs ago. I always wondered why he didn’t add a lot more acres to his own portfolio?

He also passed on gold while sitting on billions in cash with Berkshire Hathaway?

Looked at the 100 year history of gold. Flat from WW2 till 1960s. Shot up like a rocket 70's early 80. Went back to about flat mid 80's to early 2000's.

Historically considered a preserver of wealth, not a source of it. Same with treasury markets. It's everyone's arcade game on their phone now.

PRU is over the target too. Picked up more shares today with my spare cash.

Also got another chunk of GIS at $45.30 and sold a March $47.50 call for $66. That’s 1.5% per month = 18% + 5.5% dividend = 23.5% cash generation rate.

If he (Warren/Berkshire) bought let’s say 3 billion or 5 billion in gold, it would go up 10-20% in one day . It was a no lose situation. I’m speaking before the huge run up .

HD reports tomorrow. They're not on the X yet, but if they have a poorly received earnings report, it could get close. I don't have the juice to pull that off, but if it blows off 15%, I'd figure something out. They're among the most well run from the standpoint of dividend performance and commitment to stock buybacks, and growth. They're about the perfect stock for just generating tons of cash. They had a hell of a run raising their dividend every year. The 2.4% doesn't look all that great, but when you see the speed with which they raise it, it'll smoke high yielders that are prone to cuts and can't raise payouts.

Big jump for AMD today after news on a deal with META, I'm still under water on a minimal investment though.
