Stock Market is the bottom in?

AMZN=Too rich for my blood. NVDA is 1/7th of that and I have a hard time buying them.

Nvidia stock will probably come down a lot if their acquisition of Arm is blocked.

Wait. How does that work? Wouldn't she only pay 22% on the last $1000?
I don’t think so but I’m not an tax accountant.

Yeah you take advantage of each bracket on your way up.

My understanding is Yes.

That is correct. A person needs to know where those cutoffs are. When I was converting my 401k to Roth IRA, I would convert up to the top of my current bracket and then stop. Some years there wasn’t much room, others, I could really sneak the dollars under the fence.

Well good deal that I didn’t know never even thought to ask my accountant

As I understand it, you only pay the higher rate on money that falls into that bracket, not the money in lower brackets. If she wants to avoid paying the 22%, she can defer the taxes by placing it in a tax-deferred retirement account, but then she would have to take a dispersal in an amount not exceeding the cut-off for the 12% bracket.

She is 84

So she can only make so much before forfeiting Social Security.

Yeah, great set up by the government to ration our money back to us like a little kids allowance. Bastards!
Yep, my folks just got the mean letter saying they need to take withdrawals or get penalized.

I think she can make about 50k before they even begin to reduce it.

My FIL can make about 14k before they cut off his ss.

Consider Your Social Security Full Retirement Age

Once you have turned your full retirement age, there is no limit on how much you can earn while collecting Social Security payments. Your full retirement age is based on the year you were born. The full retirement age for anyone born between 1943 and 1954 is 66 years old. Individuals born in 1960 or later have a full retirement age of 67.
“If you have reached full retirement age, you can earn as much as you wish without it affecting your Social Security benefits,” says Stuart Chamberlin, president and founder of Chamberlin Financial in Boca Raton, Florida. “If you have not reached full retirement age and are collecting Social Security benefits, then you will be subject to income limits.”

How Much Can You Earn While Receiving Social Security?

If you opt to work while receiving Social Security before your full retirement age, you will only be able to receive a certain level of income before your Social Security benefit is temporarily reduced. The Social Security earnings limit is $1,580 per month or $18,960 per year in 2021 for someone age 65 or younger. If you earn more than this amount, you can expect to have $1 withheld from your Social Security benefit for every $2 earned above the limit.

Comrade Powell and high command seemed to have calmed the markets and encourage a rally today. I expect we see a rally going into the end of the year. My TD ameritrade account rallied about 3% in the last hour of trading today. Its heavy with growth stocks. I will be a bit surprised if it isnt risk on tomorrow morning.

Can't count on anything in the markets right now that I'm aware of. Need some actual positive news, They pump something one day and down grade it the next. Buy the dips.

I moved to 50% cash today. Possibly more soon. I feel like the market is looking for any little reason to plummet...

I feel like that myself. Doesn't help that the slightest hint of bad news sends investors scrambling for no real good reason. Seems highly unstable.
