Started a project... faking wood@

Dude, that looks great! I've got 3 I can send you to do!
Thanks. I actually had the thought of doing this for people. I think I could be quite a bit cheaper than a new stock once it's all said and done. I'd probably have to try a few more of my own before I was comfortable with someone else's. I'd hate to screw someone else's stuff up.

I was trying not to sound like the skeptical Dick I can be but you’re right, I gave it very lower odds than 20% of turning out as good as it did. Nice work!
Thanks, and I was likely as skeptical as you were. I like it though.

That does look great. Wonder what the UV resistance is. Did you clear coat it after doing the ink?

I don’t know who else remembers the Beretta “xtrawood” they used to offer on their higher end autos and O/Us. It was basically a film that went over the wood to make it look better. I lusted over those things for 15 years before I realized it was not real. This looks every bit as good as that? I’m very impressed!

Looks great! I assume it has some coats of epoxy for protection?

Nice!

And now the gun will mean more to you since putting your own twist on it making it special.
Some day it could be one of the most valuable to your grandkids because of this project.

First is alcohol ink. Then a coat of Kamar varnish. Kamar is a non-yellowing varnish, and it won't reactivate the ink causing runs. Then I put a couple of coats of UV protection on it. Finally a coat of "triple thick" sealer. Have about $40 into it with at least enough left over to do another gun or two.
