DR is not so bad, if you take it slow. At the beginning of the "mowing season" every year I forget how to run it efficiently. After a day or two I remember to just go half the pace I think I should and let the machine work.

My vote is for the Grasshopper, I used to wrestle with an old self drive walk behind Gravley when I was a kid and Dad wanted something ugly mowed. Sometimes I won many times that mean old Gravely did, that Grasshopper would have been heaven!

I rented a brush mower a few weeks ago. I had allusions of using it to mow about seven acres that had not been touched since burning four years ago. The mower works fine with weeds or upright vegetation. Once briars are chest high and tangled, you will kill yourself trying to cut them with the brush mower. I probably mowed 1.5 acres and will burn the rest in January.
