Something is eating my pears

Not sure if its squirrels or what, but something is eating my pears on the limb. They have literally started at one side of the pear facing outward and eaten all the way thru until they hit the core and moved on to another pear. The pear's are still hanging on the limb and are caged, so i can rule out deer. Anybody else had this happen?

I have witnessed birds doing the same thing to apples, so maybe birds?

It could be birds, but they don't have small holes in them, the whole side of the pear is gone, and this is just one one pear tree, the other 8 have no damage. Maybe these pears are further along than the others.

Birds. It's normally worse when it's dry.

We get these giant bees that look like a yellow jacket on steroids. 10x the size. They will eat the whole apple like you describe.
