Looks like a worm snake to me . They are very small , under 1 foot , and no thicker than a pencil . I just looked up flat headed snake that Native mentioned . I've never heard of it , but on 2nd look , its head does look kind of flat .

The one I caught had a blunt tail, and its belly coloration did not go up its sides. The internet said to look at those things to distinguish the two. Plus we have a ton of scorpions so I'm hopeful to have something around that eats them.
