Shoulder surgery

Jordan Selsor

5 year old buck +
Having surgery to repair a torn labrum (slap tear) in the AM. Arthroscopic
Not looking forward to it. I don't do well with taking it easy.
Any of you guys have this done?
Just looking for feedback on what to expect. I have heard the first few wks suck pretty bad.
I went 38 years without having a surgery of any kind! It was a good run! lol

I suggest giving in to the recovery and physically therapy. If you want to heal up and get back to normal activity you have to follow the restrictions so you don't ruin the repair before it has a chance heal. That being said Labral repairs generally have much less restrictions and shorter recoveries than rotator cuff repairs. Just follow your surgeons instructions and you will do great. Good luck tomorrow

When my daughter had hers fixed it wasn't Arthroscopic so hopefully you won't have a block sling

I have had 3 surgeries on my right shoulder, and 2 on my left. A combination of torn labium, and rotator cuff. Take it easy, and do your physical therapy and it will work out almost like new.

I'm with NorthWI, do what they say. Make your kids wait on you 😆

Torn labrum, torn rotator cuff surgery for me at 45 yrs old, baseball injury. Everyone I talked to about it had me scared that I'd be worse after.
They put me out, 2 hours of surgery. 4 holes in the shoulder, got it all without opening me up. Put my arm in a sling, went to a baseball game that night.
Told me full recovery would take 1.5 years. After 2 weeks of physical therapy, had more range in that shoulder than i did in my other, so i stopped going, ditched the sling.
The pain level wasn't as bad as what I went in with, felt like someone had punched me in that shoulder muscle, like a charlie horse, so pain was never an issue. After 90 days, the shoulder muscle healed up,
the charlie horse pain went away, and I'm like pfffft, this shoulder ain't gonna take a year and half to heal up.
Well, when that shoulder muscle (had 4 holes punched in it) healed up, that's when I was able to feel the rawness in that shoulder joint. So yeah, it did take a year before i was able to throw a football and baseball somewhat normally.
End of the day, I thought it was a piece of cake.

I had part of my clavicle removed in my late 20s. Like others have said, take it easy and do your pt. I wore my sling long after I needed to just as a reminder to myself not to do stupid things. Fairly quickly I was able to get out and about so going for walks became common. Low impact and got me out of the house. I was also fortunate that a buddy had rotator cuff surgery the same week so I had a friend to hang out with for my whole recovery. My shoulder isn’t the same but it’s close enough I don’t really notice most of the time.

Surgery went well yesterday.
Anastasia is was a wild feeling. Chatting away with the nurses and next thing you know I'm waking up 2.5 hours later and feel like a slammed a 12 pack.
The nerve block is super annoying. It wore off at around 0400 and I'm thankful for that. The pain is moderate at worst. Didn't sleep get much sleep last night. Not a fan of sleeping in a recliner.
On to recovery
I appreciate your feedback and advise gents

Speedy recovery my friend.

When my nerve block wore off it was game on. Evacuate the house. Do not talk to me. Do not ask me how I am doing. Do not offer me anything. Stay away.
