Seats for wood ladder stands...

So long story short, I had a metal seat cost me a buck on Friday morning. My question is, I have a good number of 20ft treated ladder stands i have up on my farm. I'm still trying to find a comfortable seat to put in them. What do you guys have? Do you buy something, make something out of wood? Preferably I'd like something that flips up but if it doesn't I guess it's not the end of the world. Any ideas, pictures or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Love wooden ladder stands. Make the seat extra wide and slope towards the tree. If you want it to flip up out of the way, just put bolts in tight on the back and let the front rest on some padded blocks. Oil the bolts/washers if it squeaks. The deck you stand on should not be sloped, but space the boards about half an inch, maybe 3 quarters. Treated lumber is great. But if you have untreated lumber, char the outermost 3 millimeter and coat it in oil.

I have 2 cushions I take with me. One is thick foam rubber, and the other is a cheap hunting seat I bought several years ago. I keep them in a tote until deer season, and during the season they hang in a tree when I'm not using them. Honestly, I don't mind sitting on a wooden seat. I mostly use the cushions in the metal stands.

Had a bunch of seats out of a school bus we used for many diffrent stands for many years when I was a kid

Squirrels, chipmunks, mice, etc. destroy any cushion I leave in a stand. Everything gets put in totes at the end of the season. I've even had mice chew on my backpack and binoculars while I slept in a cabin. One cabin was so infested with mice that I could sit and watch them get caught in the traps I set. Oh, and they piss on everything too. Squirrels have extremely concentrated urine. Ask me how I know.

New York will solve your squirrel problem!

Heh. I'm from Ohio. We have 4 species of squirrels, and plenty of them. My mom had a pet squirrel when she was young. I think now you need a permit. I would never want to own one, though. They're just too darn tasty to be a pet.

Also, I would never live in New York. I abhor leftist politics.

GCI makes a stadium seat that I find pretty comfortable. It has a hook that folds down to go under the stadium bleacher to secure the seat. I am not sure how you plan to attach a seat, but a 2x10 across with the seat on top might work. You might want a secondary attachment also.

I have a couple of these I use for some tree stands that don't have very comfortable seats. They work for me, I carry them in and out clipped to my backpack. Not cheap, but comfortable.

Just bought one of those and they are really comfortable

Look brother I think maybe you missed the “Peanut the squirrel” meme’s flying around I was just having fun

Ah yeah. I didn't put it together.

Best thing I ever bought was a car seat cushion for people who drive long distances. Has the space out for your tailbone to relax. I get a lot of back pain sitting for long times and this made a world of difference. I can sit on anything with it now.
