SD Cards

I bought some new trail cams. 2 moultrie m990i gen2 and one stealthcam g42ng. One recommends using class 10 cards. Are they absolutely necessary? I don't need high end quality pictures. These will be placed on trails in the "forest". My next newest camera is a 2013 moultrie m990i. I now have both class 4 and class 10 and I can't tell the difference in the pictures. Should I follow the recommendations, and spend the extra money for class 10 when I buy more cards? Are the new cameras more sensitive to card use? Thanks...Maybe shouldn't even be asking this question as looks like price difference is about $6 (more or less).

I believe the class describes how fast you can read and write to the card. I think a lot of cameras that do HD video want you to use class 10 cards...so they can write to the card fast enough. I'm not sure it is as important if you're just doing pictures...that being said I did get a class 10 for my g42ng.

I'm not sure. If you've got $150+ into it anyway (with the extra stuff), you might as well spend the extra $6 and make sure it'll function. I wouldn't let $6 create the risk of it not working, and you losing a segment of time where you're trying to survey.

^^^ I agree. Spend the few extra $$ for a good one.
