Roller/Crimper

I have a shop built crimper for sale. It works as designed, pillow block bearings with greases zerks, three point hitch. It was welded up by a professional welder. The drum can be filled with water, but it crimped fine without it. I can’t use it in my food plotting. I can take more pictures if there’s interest. Priced to leave room for shipping.

Sorry, been in the doctors’ offices most of today. I’m in East Texas, pretty close to Tyler.

I think it’s 8’. Cat 2

Like I said, anyone interested I can get more pics, closeups, and measurements.

Don,

That looks like a good piece of equipment

Why can't you use it?

I might not be smart enough, or persistent enough. I’m serious. I couldn’t get a good enough crop broadcasting into a standing crop and crimping. It does a great job of crimping but the stuff I planted was not as thick as I wanted even though I went heavier on my seeds.

It seems to me that the stars have to be aligned( timing of crimping, crop to be terminated, etc) for this to be successful

Eff it

I think you either need lots of rain or a drill for it to work out as you’d like it.

Could depend on the drill, the soil, rain, and the thatch or dulff you have at the time. Also the growth stage of the crop you are rolling. I use my Goliath roller crisper about 1/2 as much as I thought I would. Why, you mat ask? Because sometimes I want to mow them e weeds present in a clover crop for example. Other times I want to terminate the clover and rye for fall brassicas and 24D is my solution. Other times
I have the flail mounted and I got plenty of straw layer down and mowing will provide faster deterioration. Sometimes I am just lazy. Grin.

I’m with you Bill, it has worked for me for a long time and I have had no “gly resistance “ or any other problems. I’m about to terminate several plots Saturday in fact.
