When I was much younger, say 40-50 yrs ago, it was not uncommon to see a coyote ( or 2 or 3) hanging on a barbed wire fence near the gate. Haven't seen that again in a really long time.Totally agree....the old timers told me stories of how this used to work in Dade County, MO. Apparently you would call the local sheriff or deputy, tell them you had a coyote, then drop the carcass over a fence. The deputy or sheriff would drive by, verify the kill, and when back at the courthouse, tell the city clerk to process a bounty payment. Some coyotes made the rounds several times.
I set 6 traps for the first time ever last night. Caught these three and had a fourth that put up a little struggle and escaped. I really wish there was more to do with them, but these are fertilizer.

Duke dog proofs. Pretty neat. I used marshmallows and strawberry syrup for three of them and cat food and fish oil for the others. Caught two with the cat food and one with the marshmallows. Traps got reset. See what tomorrow brings.Welcome to trapping!! What style trap did you use? You could always skin them and throw one in a roaster for Sunday dinner. Naw me neither.Especially when you skin out most of them and find they are typically full of parasites. Throw them close to a big ol' dead tree and the eagles and hawks will usually work them over.

As is Bourbon, MO in Crawford county?I’ve got 800 acres in Bourbon if you care to try a little predator hunting.
Congratulations on a great start. I've used marshmallows alone, and they work. I saw a short on Drury Outdoors adding strawberry syrup like you did, which I plan to try as well. One of our barn cats (a very affectionate cat) has only three paws due to a dog-proof trap, so I am no longer using cat food on the ones around the farmhouse and barn.Duke dog proofs. Pretty neat. I saw the Drury show and went straight out and set traps. They made it look easy, and it kinda was.Congratulations on a great start. I've used marshmallows alone, and they work.
