Of the apple variety. My Dolgo Crab is, like every year, loaded with fruit.

Yep, that is sweet, and the leaves are spotless too.

When do your Dolgos drop? Or do they hang on for a long period of time? I have several planted and they are starting to produce.

Usually mid to late August they will start to drop, with some drying up and hanging on into the fall.

My dolgos tend to be biennial. This is the off year and frost took care of the few blossoms I had.
Drop time is about Sept. first, here. Seedlings can be more variable in drop time but still tend to be disease resistant.

If you get a chance, make some apple sauce out of them. It has a cherry flavor.

...... man that's a good lookin tree !!

Can't wait until our camp's Dolgo's look like yours !!

At first I wondered why you hadn't cut out the competition there Rick, then I noticed the tree stand ladder. Sneaky Devil!

We Pa. deer hunters look at EVERY angle !! Rick has it down !!;)

Not sure if this is the same tree greyphase sent me a scion from but this dolgo is the most vigorous grower I have this year.

Nice thats some great height for year 1.

Great pics!
My orchards are still pretty new..this is all the apple porn I have this year.

The Ol Box store tree seems pretty vibrant, nice work. Do you have any weed barrier or anything to allow the tree to have the nutrients around it and not the competition?

I mulched around the bottom pretty heavy when I planted and watered in hard. Planted them in March so they hit the spring rains perfect other than that I have watered a couple times this summer and that's about it. Some of the taller grass and weeds seem to shade them pretty well maybe benefitting a little by shading. I put out about a dozen TSC trees, a dozen Cummins trees and a dozen or so from Northern Whitetail Crab this spring, all of them have put on good growth and have done well for as dry as we have been.

What is Northern Whitetail Crab ?? Where are they located / contact info ??

They are out of PA, they specifically raise food plot trees for northern states. The trees I got from them were all bare root and trimmed with excellent root structure. I put in a few of each; 30-06 Droptine 10point and Gray Ghost. They have all done great and put on very good growth this year, I will be buying from them again next spring.

I'm pretty happy with how the crab apples have done with as crazy dry as it has been here, they have actually thrived and branched out nice. They were pretty much 4' bare root barely branched whips when I put them in this past March.

A 30-06 crab yesterday;
